BROTHER ALFRED BONANZA, O.S.F.
Alfred

The son of Anthony and Christina (Madden) Bonanza, Robert T. Bonanza was born in Oyster Bay on February 10,1935.

After graduating from St. Dominic's High School, he entered the Franciscan Brothers on July 6, 1953.

He received the habit and the religious name "Alfred" on February 7, 1954, and made his profession of vows January 29,1956.

Brother Alfred was a teacher at St. Leonard's High School from 1956 until 1965, when he became the Prefect of Discipline at Bishop Ford High School.

From 1969 until 1972 Brother Alfred was Director of Financial Aid at St. Francis College before returning to Bishop Ford where he remained for the next 27 years.

In 1999, Brother Alfred moved the St. Anthony's High School, South Huntington, where he served the faculty and students in the Bookstore until his retirement.

Although Alfred faced illness and surgeries in his later years, he always maintained a positive approach to life that he shared with his confreres, family and friends.

Brother Alfred died after a brief hospitalization on Dec 12, 2011.
